How to Make Waldorf Chicken Salad

  1. Make the Dressing. In a large bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.

  2. Mix the Salad. Add cooked chicken, chopped apples, celery, walnuts, and grapes. Stir until everything is well coated.

  3. Chill and Serve. Refrigerate for 30 minutes, then serve cold on lettuce, in croissants, or as a main dish. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Make-Ahead and Storage Instructions

To Make-Ahead: Prepare the chicken salad as directed, then cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before serving to let the flavors set.

To Store: Keep the salad in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir gently before serving.

Waldorf Chicken Salad

Whenever I am craving chicken salad, this easy waldorf chicken salad recipe is pretty much always what I make! It's fresh, hearty and so good.

Ingredients 

  • cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 cups diced cooked chicken
  • 2 red apples, cored and diced
  • cup sliced celery
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts
  • ½ cup sliced seedless grapes
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions 

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise and lemon juice.
  • Add salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste, and stir well to combine.
  • Add the chicken, apples, celery, walnuts, and grapes to the bowl with the dressing.
  • Mix everything together until evenly coated.
  • Taste the salad and add more salt and pepper if needed, then stir again gently.
  • Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to let the flavors blend and the salad chill.
  • Serve cold—on a bed of lettuce, in croissants, or as a light main dish.
  • Storing:
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Stir before serving.
