How to Make Pear Applesauce

  1. Boil it: Add the apples, pears, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, and water to a pot. Stir to combine. Cover and simmer over medium heat for 20 to 25 minutes or until the apples are soft. Remove from the heat.

  2. Blend it: Using an immersion blender or potato masher, blend the mixture until smooth.

Storing and Freezing Instructions

To Freeze: Allow the applesauce to cool completely to room temperature. Spoon the applesauce into ice cube trays and freeze until solid. Pop the cubes out of the trays and transfer them to freezer bags labeled with the date and the contents.

To Store: Pear applesauce can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to a week. Just make sure to check for mold every time you open the jar or container and give it a sniff to check that it still smells delicious.

Ingredients 

  • 3 medium apples, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 2 medium pears, peeled, cored and chopped
  • ¾ cup water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg

Instructions 

  • Add the apples, pears, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar and water to a pot.
  • Stir to combine.
  • Cover and simmer over medium heat for 20-25 minutes or until the apples are soft.
  • Remove from the heat.
  • Using an immersion blender or potato masher, blend the mixture until smooth.
  • Use immediately or refrigerate until ready to use.
