  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. 
  2. Slice the butter in a small pieces and add to the baking dish. 
  3. Melt the butter in the oven. 
  4. Remove the baking dish from the oven and set aside. 
  5. Add the peaches and 1/3 cup of sugar to a saucepan and toss to combine. 
  6. Cook over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until the sugar is dissolved. 
  7. Remove from the heat. 
  8. In a bowl combine the flour, baking powder, pinch of salt and remaining sugar. 
  9. Add the milk and mix to combine.  
  10. Pour the batter in the baking pan. 
  11. Spoon the peaches and juices over the batter. 
  12. Sprinkle with cinnamon if using. 
  13. Bake in preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until golden.
  14. Serve warm.
