Why Is My Cantaloupe Mushy?

When a cantaloupe ripens too much, it can become soft and mushy. Another explanation may be improper storage. If the cantaloupe is stored in one position too long, it can make that spot softer than the rest.

For obvious reasons, a softer texture can make your cantaloupe more difficult to cut into decorative patterns. However, if the mushy parts are limited to one spot, you can try to cut it off and make do with the rest.
