Buttery Garlic Breadsticks

For the breadsticks:
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter melted
- 2 tsp salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
For the topping:
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter melted
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp Italian seasoning
- In a bowl of stand mixer fitted with a dough hook combine the water, yeast and sugar.
- Let stand for 5 minutes.
- In another bowl combine the flour and salt.
- Add the melted butter to the bowl of stand mixer.
- While the mixer is running, add the flour mixture slowly.
- Beat on low speed for 5 minutes.
- Lightly grease a large bowl with olive oil.
- Transfer the dough into the bowl.
- Cover with plastic wrap and leave to rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 400ºF.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Punch the dough.
- Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into 7 inch long rope.
- Transfer the breadsticks on the prepared baking sheet.
- Let rise for 30 minutes.
- Bake in preheated oven for about 12 minutes, or until golden.
- In a small bowl combine the butter, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and salt.
- Remove from the oven and brush the breadsticks with garlic butter.
- Serve warm.
