While I love classic jams like strawberry and raspberry, there is literally nothing quite like this homemade fig jam recipe (made with just 3 ingredients!). Here’s how to make it the easy way, without pectin and without any canning required.

Homemade jam made with fresh figs is one of life’s great pleasures! It’s one of the jams I have on hand pretty much at all times (as well as strawberry jam and raspberry jam).

How to Make Fig Jam with Fresh Figs

  1. Combine the Ingredients. Add the chopped fresh figs, sugar, lemon juice, and water to a large saucepan. Stir everything together until the sugar starts to dissolve and the figs get a little glossy.

  2. Cook and Thicken. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer for about 35 to 45 minutes. Stir often so it doesn’t stick to the bottom. Once it’s thickened, mash the figs with a fork or blend them if you like a smoother texture.

  3. Jar and Store. Spoon the hot jam into clean, sterilized jars. Let it cool completely before sealing. Store in the fridge for up to three weeks.
