Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 12 hours
Total Time: 12 hours 15 minutes
Servings: 12

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds plums, ripe, but firm

Instructions

How to Make Dried Plums in a Dehydrator:

  • Wash the plums and cut them in half. Remove the pits.
  • If the plums are large, you can cut them into quarters for faster drying.
  • Place the plum halves cut-side up on dehydrator trays, leaving space between each piece.
  • Set the dehydrator to 135°F for fruit.
  • Dry for 12 to 24 hours, depending on plum size and juiciness. They should be dry and leathery on the outside but still a little pliable inside—not sticky or wet.
  • Let the dried plums cool completely before storing.

How to Make Dried Plums in an Oven:

  • Wash, halve, and pit the plums. Cut into quarters if they’re large.
  • Set to 175°F or your oven’s lowest setting.
  • Place the plums cut-side up on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Bake for 6 to 10 hours, flipping them halfway through. Keep the oven door slightly open to let moisture escape.
  • They should feel leathery, flexible, and not sticky.
  • Let cool completely before storing.
