Add Flavor to Homemade Soups with These 3 Tips

Here are 3 of our top tips for upping the flavor of your homemade soups:

  • Choose the stock wisely. Choosing the right kind of stock to add to your soup can enhance the flavor in a tremendous way. Different soup recipes will call for vegetable stock, beef stock, chicken stock and more. It’s also pretty easy to make your own homemade stocks from scratch to use in your recipes.
  • Simmer, simmer. Allowing your soup to simmer for about 5 minutes allows all of the ingredients to really infuse the liquid with a ton of flavor. Heartier ingredients like meat, vegetables and beans will also get a chance to absorb more of that flavorful liquid, further enhancing the overall flavor of the soup.
  • Add soup bones. Adding soup bones into your soup recipes is an easy way to add an incredible amount of flavor. Bone marrow and leftover scraps from the meat help to add a rich flavor to homemade soups.

Can I Freeze Cream of Spinach Soup?

Yes, you can freeze cream of spinach soup. Just be aware though that you’re likely to lose quite a bit of texture when the soup thaws out due to the cream content.

You’ll first need to let the soup cool completely before transferring it into a freezer-safe airtight container. You can freeze the soup for up to 6 months.

To reheat, thaw the soup out overnight in the fridge before reheating on the stove top until it’s heated through or in the oven at 300℉ for about 15 minutes.
