How to Make Cilantro Orange Chicken 

  1. Make the marinade. Combine cilantro, garlic, orange juice, honey, and salt.

  2. Coat the chicken with half of the marinade. Let it marinate for 30 minutes to 2 hours.

  3. Bake the chicken for 30-40 minutes. Make sure it is cooked through. 
  4. Brush the cooked chicken. Serve warm.

  • To Make Ahead: Prepare the marinade and marinate the chicken in advance, then store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before cooking.
  • To Store: Store the cilantro orange chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Total Time: 35 minutes
Servings: 4


  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • ½ cup cilantro, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp grape-seed or avocado oil
  • salt to taste


  • Add the cilantro, garlic, orange juice, honey and salt to taste to a bowl and stir to combine.
  • Pour half of the sauce over the chicken and toss to coat.
  • Allow to marinate for 30 minutes or up to 2 hours.
  • Reserve the other half of the sauce for later.
  • Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  • Place the chicken on an oiled baking sheet.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 30-40 minutes or until the internal temperature reads 165°F.
  • Brush the chicken with reserved sauce and serve.


  • Ensure the chicken is cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F for safe consumption.
  • Reserve some marinade for brushing onto the cooked chicken before serving for an extra burst of flavor.
