Cantaloupe Popsicle Ingredients

  • Cantaloupe: Only use fresh, whole cantaloupe! Pre-cut cantaloupe you buy in plastic containers at your local grocery store will be much less fresh and less flavorful compared to freshly cut cantaloupe.
  • Sweetener of choice: My favorite is white sugar with these cantaloupe popsicles, but honey is also delicious as a substitute.
  • Lime Juice: Fresh squeezed, not bottled.

How to Make Homemade Popsicles Less Icy

If you want to make smooth popsicles, one important tip is to use a higher ratio of fruit puree to liquid when making your popsicle mixture. This will help to increase the sugar content and prevent the popsicles from becoming too icy.

If all else fails, another helpful tip is to allow the popsicles to sit at room temperature for a few minutes to make it easier to bite into.

How to Make Popsicles Without a Popsicle Mold

Looking to make homemade popsicles but can’t find your popsicle mold? No worries! Here are a couple of options that you can try instead:

  • Use small, freezer-safe plastic cups. Fill up the cups about 1/3 or even ½ of the way full. Once it’s semi-frozen, add a popsicle stick.
  • Use ice cube trays. Fill up the ice cube trays until it’s all the way full. While waiting for it to solidify, cut your popsicle sticks in half. Stick the cut side down into your ice cube.

P.S. If you’re looking for a spicy popsicle that can also be a little boozy (if you want), try these pineapple popsicles.
