Basil Tea Ingredients
- Dried Holy Basil: Dried holy basil has a slightly more pungent and peppery flavor compared to sweet basil. You can also use fresh holy basil, but you’ll need less of it.
- Honey: Honey serves as the natural sweetener. Use any type of honey you’d like.
- Lemon Juice: Lemon juice adds a bright and citrusy element to this tea. Like the honey, you can also add more if you’d like.

How to Make Basil Tea
- Steep the basil. Boil the basil for about 15 minutes.

- Strain the basil leaves. The water should have a nice, green color after this.
- Add the honey and lemon juice. Mix well to combine, adjusting the honey as you go.

- Serve. Add your choice of garnish.
Make Ahead and Reheating Instructions:
- To make ahead: Make the basil tea as usual and allow it to cool completely. Keep in a covered container for up to 24 hours. Serve hot or over ice.
- To reheat: Reheat the basil tea in the microwave on medium power or in a saucepan on the stovetop over low to medium heat.

Recipe Variations
- Add a squeeze of fresh fruit juice. Some freshly squeezed orange or grapefruit juice would work well with this recipe.
- Add mint. Combine fresh basil leaves with mint leaves for a refreshing twist.
- Serve with fresh fruit slices. Use anything from watermelon to orange slices to complement the fresh fruit juice and honey lemon flavor.
